In loving memory of
Mary OâMeara 20.7.66 - 10.12.17
A year is a milestone on the path. It marks a return to source and the completion of a cycle. One year ago today we lost the most wonderfully kind, compassionate and generous person from our lives. Mary was amongst other things a talented writer, a devoted advocate for the most vulnerable in society and latterly a Bowen therapist who gave freely of her time and talent in the pursuit of healing those in need. She spent much of her life working in libraries, sharing her love of literature and learning with others. Somehow she found the hours in a day to dedicate time to supporting musicians through running a record label, management, booking bands at a small venue, fanzine writing and event promotion. Mary packed more into her 51 years than most could dream of. Her belief in never wasting a drop was infectious.
Above all Mary was the finest, most devoted, loving and loyal friend you could ever wish for. Her compassion for others was both humbling and inspiring; it was a quiet, modest kindness without expectation of anything in return. That people still get in touch a year later and tell me things that Mary did to help them speaks volumes of her capacity for love.
Whilst I feel your loss particularly deeply today, I also celebrate the many joyful years I spent with you, both in our home in Manchester and on the many crazy escapades that lifeâs journey took us on. Somehow I will learn to celebrate your life for it was too remarkable not to. Out of rain comes a rainbow... I love you.
